The drive to start a business that combines travel with humanities education burgeoned in 2007 when I was pondering about the intergenerational issue of how culture passes on to my kids. My previous careers in engineering and management had given me so much travel opportunities and cross-cultural exposures, including living in Germany for 5 years, that I had also piled up a heap of questions about the human race, only to be enlightened by a Master course in Anthropology as late as in 2009.

To my surprise, my latest career interest not only finds resonance in Anthropology's hallmarks of fieldwork and holistic interpretation of culture, but also in the new local curriculum of Liberal Studies and IB curriculum. Besides, Anthropology has also given me the insight regarding the unique role of overseas cross-cultural travel for students. When they are away from their usual social and cultural comfort zone, when nothing is taken for granted anymore, a psychological condition conducive to deep reflection and spiritual uplifting is effectively created. This is a process comparable to what was happening in cultural rite of passage and pilgrimage as analysed by Victor Turner, a renowned cultural Anthropologist.

It is my satisfaction to see students go through this uplifting process and get inspired to reflect on others, themselves, their community and country, as well as the world at large.

Understanding cross-cultural issues in the face of globalization is an area of growing importance for students. We believe that young student who develops an early balanced exposure to other civilizations and cultures will be able to develop a World View useful for the rest of their lives.
